David has been the Pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian since 2005, previously serving congregations in Kentucky and England. Raised Lutheran, David was for many years afterwards active in charismatic churches, first encountering distinctively Reformed theology from Reformed teachers visiting those circles; men like James Jordan, RJ Rushdoony, Francis Schaeffer, and Douglas Kelly were instrumental in turning his attention to the heritage of the Reformation. Most recently David attended the Cambridge University Institute for Orthodox Studies. He is the author of 2000 Years in Two Days, Conversations on Worship, and Enter His Presence with Singing. He loves tea, fat books, good beer, sky-diving, boxing, weight training, and his beloved Chicago Cubs. Pastor Cassidy will address the history of the Orthodox Church, Vatican II and its influence, and what we can learn from these communions while promoting and defending the inheritance of the Reformation.
